Teriyaki Chicken is a popular dish in Japanese cuisine that is cooked with a flavorful sauce. If you have a ready-made teriyaki sauce packet, the cooking process becomes much simpler. Here’s how to prepare the dish

Ingredients


• 500g chicken (can use boneless chicken breast or thigh, cut into bite-sized pieces) 

• 1 packet of teriyaki sauce 

• 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil 

• Garlic (minced, optional) 

• Green onions (chopped, for garnish) 

• Sesame seeds, coriander (optional, for garnish)

1. Prepare the chicken:

  • Clean the chicken and cut it into bite-sized pieces. If desired, you can marinate the chicken with a bit of salt and pepper to enhance the flavor.

2. Cook the chicken:

  • Heat a pan over medium heat and add cooking oil. When the oil is hot, add minced garlic if desired and sauté until fragrant.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the pan and stir-fry until the chicken turns golden brown and is cooked through (about 6-8 minutes). Make sure not to overcook the chicken to keep it tender.

3. Add the Teriyaki sauce:

  • Pour the teriyaki sauce packet into the pan and stir it evenly with the chicken. Reduce the heat to low and let the chicken simmer with the sauce for about 3-5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken pieces.

4. Finish and garnish:

  • Turn off the heat and transfer the dish to a plate. Garnish with chopped green onions and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.

5. Serve:

  • Teriyaki chicken is typically served with steamed white rice and vegetables.

Note:

  • If you want the sauce to have a more distinctive flavor, you can add some minced ginger or chopped chili peppers when sautéing the garlic.
  • You can also substitute chicken with other types of meat, such as beef, pork, or fish, according to your preference.
